Wednesday, January 06, 2010 5:54 PM
A few conversations with our hotel customers over the last couple of weeks has convinced us that is worth republishing our Online Marketing New Years Resolutions once again, only slightly modified from 2009.

This is presented from the point of view of a Revenue Manager, but could be just as easily used by a Hotel Owner/Manager.
...............................

As a Revenue Manager i will set the following targets and have them signed off by the Hotel Owner/Manager by the end of January.

Targets;

  • I will increase my Website Traffic by 20%.
  • I will increase my Online Revenue by 10% (Yes 10%, even in this economic crisis).
  • I will sign up to at least 10 Booking Engines.
  • I will add at least 5 Articles/Press Releases per month to the website.
  • I will add at least 5 Posts per Month to Twitter.
  • I will add at least 5 posts per Month to Facebook
  • I will send at least 1 E Zine Per Month.
  • I will send at least 1 Text Message Per Month.
  • I will add at least 200 Customers Per Month to my Customer Database (for an average 50 room hotel)..
Specific Actions;
  • I will buy and install a Inventory Distribution Software (ie Rate Tiger/AccuBook)
  • I will update at least monthly a Google Adwords Campaign
  • I will instill in my Hotel 'Yield Management Practises' (varying room rates to match demand)
  • I will refine and sharpen the attractiveness of my E Mail Frequent Customer Scheme.

For those hotels joining us on the 2010 Support Program, you will be required to set out targets as above and carry out the actions defined.....monthly.
