AccuBook Bulletin Nr 56 - 7 News Years Resolutions for Hotel Owner Managers

We apologize for publishing these New Years Resolutions somewhat late in the day, but we have been inundated with hotels in January wishing to use the quiet winter period to look at what they can do in the New Year to boost their online sales.
The last time we published this was in January 2010, and it is interesting to see that many targets have now been re-focussed on 'Inventory Distribution' ie Selling rooms online through the different OTA's/Booking Engines.

7 Suggested New Years Resolutions for Hotel Owner/Managers;

1.  I will ensure someone (internal or external) is clearly responsible for Revenue Management.
2.  I will ensure my Revenue Manager has targets to increase Online Revenue.
3. I will ensure my reception/reservation staff have clear products to 'upsell' and are measured on how much they sell. (Late Check-out, Early Check-in, Breakfast in Bed etc).
4. I will ensure that the procedures are in place to consistently build a customer database.
5. I will use 1% of my unsold rooms for Online Marketing.
6. I will ensure that there is at least 1 Online Promotion Per Month.
7. I will ensure that someone (internal or external) is executing an Online Marketing Plan complete with a monthly report.

Mobile Websites and Mobile Extranet. We have had an excellent response to the release of our Mobile Websites and Mobile Extranet. Particularly Independent Hotel Owners have appreciated the ability to be able to use their mobile phone to close out the Booking Engine or Channel Manager and view bookings etc. Many thanks for everyone who has given us feedback, a few good ideas have arisen that we will be incoporating in to our next release.
